Sedimentation Rates: Anthropogenic Impacts and Environmental Changes in Transitional Water Systems

چکیده
The trophic evolution of the Venice lagoon was analyzed by studying particulate collected monthly with sedimentation traps in many areas since 1989, and at Goro 2018–2019. Sedimentation rates were strongly related to presence macrophytes, which reduced sediment resuspension, anthropogenic pressures, such as clam harvesting naval-boat traffic, that triggered resuspension loss. highest mean annual (from 2000 over 4000 g DWT m−2 day−1) have been recorded between 1998–1999 2001–2002, during intense fishing activities Ruditapes philippinarum. High values (daily peaks up 5224 also affected marine and/or recreational due high wave motion. In contrast, biomasses macroalgae, or seagrasses, significantly settlement, ranging 40 140 day−1 minimum 6–10 day−1. a lower grain-size, loss fine fraction dispersion nutrients pollutants whole lagoon.

Plant ecology. Anthropogenic environmental changes affect ecosystem stability via biodiversity.
Human-driven environmental changes may simultaneously affect the biodiversity, productivity, and stability of Earth's ecosystems, but there is no consensus on the causal relationships linking these variables. Data from 12 multiyear experiments that manipulate important anthropogenic drivers, including plant diversity, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, fire, herbivory, and water, show that each driver i...
متن کاملBivalves as indicators of environmental variation and potential anthropogenic impacts in the southern Barents Sea.
Identifying patterns and drivers of natural variability in populations is necessary to gauge potential effects of climatic change and the expected increases in commercial activities in the Arctic on communities and ecosystems. We analyzed growth rates and shell geochemistry of the circumpolar Greenland smooth cockle, Serripes groenlandicus, from the southern Barents Sea over almost 70 years bet...
متن کاملEnvironmental and Anthropogenic Impacts on Avifaunal Assemblages in an Urban Parkland, 1976 to 2007
Urban environments are unique, rapidly changing habitats in which almost half of the world's human population resides. The effects of urbanisation, such as habitat (vegetation) removal, pollution and modification of natural areas, commonly cause biodiversity loss. Long-term ecological monitoring of urban environments is vital to determine the composition and long-term trends of faunal communiti...
متن کاملHurricane Effects on Water Quality and Benthos in the Cape Fear Watershed: Natural and Anthropogenic Impacts
In the summer of 1996, southeastern North Carolina, United States, was struck by two hurricanes, with the second (Hurricane Fran) doing considerably more damage than the first (Hurricane Bertha). The Cape Fear watershed, largest in North Carolina, suffered from severe water quality problems for weeks following Fran, including a massive fish kill in the Northeast Cape Fear River. Post-hurricane ...
